Valencia CF made a short trip to face Villarreal CF on Tuesday, 19th of April at 9:30 pm at the Estadio La Ceramica in a midweek regional derby on Matchday 33 of LaLiga with José Bordalás naming a much-changed lineup.
Valencia CF had a poor start to the game as Arnaut Danjuma made it 1-0 to Villarreal only nine minutes into the first half.
Aforementioned Arnaut Danjuma made it 2-0 to Villarreal just over the quarter-hour mark.
Valencia CF struggled to get a foothold in the game after the opposition’s early two-goal lead and their stifling pressure on the ball which put Valencia CF on the back foot as the opposition looked to hit Valencia CF on the break at every opportunity.
The remainder of the half played out without further incidents and Valencia CF trailed Villarreal CF by 2-0 at the interval.
Valencia CF came out looking to reduce the two-goal deficit. However, Valencia CF could not settle into the second half.
José Bordalás made a triple substitution in the 55th minute with Carlos Soler, Yunus Musah and Jesús Vázquez making way for Ilaix Moriba, José Gayà and first-team debutant Jesús Santiago “Yellu" respectively.
Denis Cheryshev replaced Thierry Correia over the hour mark and almost made an instant impact as he thought to have scored, but he was flagged up for offside in the build-up to the goal.
Valencia CF upped the ante with Marcos André blazing it over the bar following a fine move. The opposition had an instant reply at the other end through Arnaut Danjuma, but Jasper Cillessen kept the scoreline at 2-0.
José Bordalás made the final substitution bringing on Koba Koindredi who replaced Uroš Račić in midfield.
Valencia CF kept on pushing, but the scoreline remained unchanged and fell to a 2-0 away loss to Villarreal CF in the midweek regional derby at the Estadio de La Cerámica on Matchday 33 of LaLiga.
